CATONSVILLE, Md. – Baltimore County police said an 18-year-old Catonsville man is facing a murder charge in his father’s slaying.

Police said officers called to a home on Southridge Road Tuesday found 50-year-old Shakeel Ahmed Abbasi with traumatic injuries. He died on the scene. Police said they found evidence of stab wounds and bludgeoning but an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Police said a relative in New Jersey called Abbasi’s wife after his son sent her a text asking her to check on Abbasi. His wife found Abbasi covered in blood and called 911. Police said their son, Muhammad Hasnet Shakeelabassi, was missing. He was later found at a rest stop in Bowmansville.

Police have an arrest warrant charging Shakeelabassi with first-degree murder. He is awaiting extradition.
