KITTANING (AP) — State police say three people were killed in a head-on collision between two vehicles, one of which was apparently on the wrong side of a divided western Pennsylvania highway.

Police in Armstrong County said the crash between a sedan and a sport utility vehicle occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday on route 28/66 in Manor Township.

Police said the sedan driver, 46-year-old Gregory Johns of Worthington, was killed, along with the SUV driver, 21-year-old Alex Davis of McGrann, and 27-year-old Francis Danahey Jr. of Verona. All were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that another SUV passenger was flown to UPMC Presbyterian with what the coroner’s office reported as severe injuries.

State police said investigators are trying to determine which vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction.
