Bedroom damaged in Chartiers fire

Chartiers Township firefighters were called just before 5 p.m. Saturday to a home at 323 Western Avenue.

Fire Chief Vince Altieri said there was light smoke coming from the home of Diana and Eric Simms. He said a fire started in clothing and spread to the bed. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and keep damage to a minimum.

Houston firefighters also assisted at the scene.
