Man accused of killing 3 pleads guilty in 1 slaying
PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Pittsburgh man accused of killing three people in less than a week has pleaded guilty in one of the cases.
Twenty-year-old Theodore Smedley was sentenced to up to 40 years behind bars Wednesday in the killing of 18-year-old Rasheed Strader. Prosecutors say Strader was shot multiple times outside his mother’s home in Pittsburgh in March 2014.
Smedley still faces trial in the shooting deaths of 36-year-old Jamarow Trowery and 18-year-old Rashad Freeman. Police found them shot to death inside a Cadillac Escalade.
The Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office says it’s seeking the death penalty in that case.
