Police beat
Student charged: Eric Morris Campbell, 20, of Erie, was charged by California police with retail theft, public drunkenness, underage drinking and disorderly conduct for an incident early Thursday at Kwik Fill. He is accused of stealing beef jerky and a drink. Because of his level of intoxication, he was taken to the California University of Pennsylvania infirmary, where he refused treatment, police said. He was placed in the department’s holding cell until he was sober enough to be released, police said.
Theft arrest: Tyler Anthony Santoro, 18, of 530 Duquesne Ave., Canonsburg, was arrested Wednesday by Canonsburg police on charges of theft and disorderly conduct for allegedly stealing a battery charger, hammer drill and welder, valued at $2,000, from his father Nov. 16. When police took him into custody at his home, officers found him with hypodermic needles and empty stamp bags of suspected heroin. He also will be charged with possession of paraphernalia. Santoro was arraigned on the theft charges before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Father assaulted: Maggie Ann Brown, 33, of 537 Duquesne Ave., Canonsburg, will be charged by Canonsburg police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly pushing her 69-year-old father, William J. Brown, down the steps of their home during an argument. She left before police arrived but was later taken into custody and placed in Washington County jail on a parole detainer. Her father was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
Driver charged: Melissa M. McCartney, 32, of Clarksburg, W.Va., was charged Tuesday by Canonsburg police with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license stemming from a two-vehicle crash on Oct. 26 at Morganza Road and Bobby Vinton Boulevard. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Charged with theft: Joseph E. Buddenhagen, 32, of 3060 Dividend Drive, South Franklin Township, was charged last week with theft by state police. He is accused of stealing a laptop computer from his former girlfriend’s Canton home Sept. 28 and selling it at a Washington area pawn shop. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Paraphernalia charge: Rachel Acton, 26, of 445 Bow St., Stockdale, was charged by Charleroi Regional police with possession of paraphernalia after an officer found several empty stamp bags of suspected heroin in her vehicle during a traffic stop. She was searched by a female officer, who found her with more empty stamp bags and a needle. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Assault arrest: Travis Jordan Flaherty, 19, of 205 Jobes St., Elco, was arraigned Wednesday on a warrant obtained by state police on charges of simple assault and harassment for allegedly pushing his mother, Linda Flaherty, into a wall during a confrontation at their home early Saturday. She cut her wrist on a television stand. He then allegedly assaulted his brother, Trevor Flaherty. Travis Flaherty was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
Vehicle entered: Matt Waters, 56 Fernwood Drive, told South Strabane police Thursday a bag of loose change and other items were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his home.
Man assaulted: Sam Kusaj, 45, of Washington, told Washington police he was assaulted Wednesday in a parking lot in the 900 block of Jefferson Avenue by a 28-year-old Washington man who reportedly owed him money. Kusaj was picked up and thrown to his ground by his alleged attacker. Charges are pending against the other man, police said.
Tablet stolen: Kayla Poland, 299 E. Prospect Ave., told Washington police Wednesday her Verizon tablet was stolen from her home.
Copper stolen: An employee at McKean Plumbing, 468 W. Chestnut St., told Washington police Wednesday that a white man wearing a brown jacket stole 25 to 30 sections of copper pipe from outside the business and fled in a Nissan Frontier pickup truck.
Vehicle damaged: Chris Duncan of Marianna told Washington police the passsenger and rear driver’s side window and windshield of his Ford Ranger pickup truck were shattered and the ignition damaged while it was parked under the Interstate 70 viaduct in the 900 block of Chartiers Street.
Retail theft: A Masontown man was charged by state police with retail theft after allegedly taking two flat-screen televisions from Walmart, 134 Daniel Kendall Drive. Donavin Lendall Williams, 23, of 76 Fort Mason Village, was released on his own recognizance afer being arraigned Thursday by District Justice James Ellis.
