JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Johnstown officials say the city’s manager has quit and promised to repay $6,400 that an internal investigation concluded he owes.

The Tribune-Democrat of Johnstown reported (Saturday that the mayor said Carlos Gunby was stepping down for personal reasons.

A phone message left at Gunby’s home wasn’t immediately returned.

Mayor Frank Janakovic says he and the city’s lawyer investigated “financial irregularities.” They gave details to City Council during a closed-door session several days ago.

Gunby’s been city manager since February. He’s also served as the city’s finance director and acting city manager.

The council plans to hire an auditing firm next week to review the city’s accounts.
