A North Strabane Township man accused of assaulting his wife for a half hour in their home last month waived his case Monday to Washington County Court.

Joseph T. Caddell, 38, of 516 Blossom Drive, avoided facing a preliminary hearing by waiving his charges to the higher court before District Judge Jay Weller, court records show.

Caddell was charged by township police with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment after his wife, Casey, alleged he assaulted her Nov. 21 in front of their two young daughters. She claimed he threw her to the floor and choked her after dragging her from a bathroom where she was giving one of the children a bath.

Caddell was returned to Washington County jail, where he has been held on $10,000 bond.
