WAYNESBURG – A Denbo woman who pleaded guilty last month to stealing $410 from a parked vehicle at Shop ‘n Save in Carmichaels was sentenced Monday to four years in the county intermediate punishment program.
Anna C. Nehls, 30, of 6 Vesta 7 Road, was arrested July 24 by Cumberland Township police after witnesses saw her stealing money from an unattended vehicle in the store parking lot. After being arrested, police found syringes and cotton balls containing drug residue in her purse.
As part of her sentence, Greene County President Judge Farley Toothman ordered Nehls to serve the first 90 days in jail and was given credit for 89 days served. She was fined $300.
In another matter before the court, Shawn Edward Martisko, 32, of 305 Parkview Knoll, Carmichaels, pleaded guilty Tuesday to receiving stolen property and retail theft.
Police said Martisko stole a mesh utility cart from the front of the Tractor Supply store in Waynesburg on Dec. 21, 2014, and went to a register and told the clerk he was returning the item. He received a gift card for $84.75. As he was leaving the store, he picked up a salt spreader and fled.
Martisko’s actions were taped on the store’s video surveillance cameras.
