Police Beat Dec. 11
Theft, receiving charges: Savon Latrell Salter, 21, of Pittsburgh, will be charged by California police with theft and receiving stolen property after he allegedly stole a bicycle parked at Second and Wood streets early Thursday. He reportedly rode it around town and disposed of it blocks away from where it was stolen.
Disorderly house: Stewart McNeal, 20, of Elkhart, Ind., and Devon Michael Thomas, 23, of York, will be charged by California police with violating the borough’s disorderly house ordinance for allegedly hosting a large and noisy party early Saturday at their apartment at 513 Second St.
Assault, endangerment charges: Samuel D. Williams, 60, of 750 Champion Drive, Houston, was charged Monday by Canonsburg police with simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and harassment after he allegedly dragged Lisa Oliver and tried to run her over with his vehicle during an Oct. 12 incident on Giffin Avenue. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Account accessed: Ken Linkish of Canonsburg told borough police information from his debit card was used to withdraw more than $3,000 from his account. He told police he still had possession of his card and canceled it.
Theft charge: Tracy B. Painter, 39, of 140 Michael Ave., Canton Township, was arraigned Monday on a charge of theft filed by state police after she allegedly stole $3,500 from Circle K, 560 Henderson Ave., Canton, while working at the store last month. She was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and released.
Burglary arrest: Cody Allen Stoffer, 25, of 435 Murray Ave., Donora, was arrested Thursday by Donora police on charges of burglary and receiving stolen property. He is accused of entering a home at 418 Fifth St. on Dec. 1 and stealing a PlayStation 4 game system, three games and a home security system. He then allegedly tried to sell the items. He was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Two injured: Aja Brown, 26, of Canonsburg, and his passenger, Lakeisha Brown, 28, also of Canonsburg, were injured Tuesday morning when their vehicle ran into the back of a vehicle driven by Adam Petras, 31, of Bridgeville, on the ramp from Interstate 79 southbound to Racetrack Road, South Strabane. They were taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment. Aja Brown will be charged with following too closely.
Drug charges: David J. Durbin, 26, of 480 Broad St., Washington, was charged this week by state police with possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and traffic violations stemming from a Nov. 20 traffic stop on Interstate 79 northbound near the north junction with Interstate 70 in South Strabane. Police said he admitted to taking three Oxycontin pills and smoking marijuana. He also had 38 Oxycontin pills, police said. Charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Trespass charge: Wilco McClain, 21, of 495 W. Chestnut St., Washington, was charged Thursday in a private criminal complaint filed by a representative of the Washington County Housing Authority with defiant trespass after he allegedly was seen in Lincoln Terrace on Oct. 21. He was banned from all authority properties March 16, according to the complaint. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Paraphernalia charge: Amanda McGary, 29, of 15 N. Main St., Washington, was charged Thursday with possession of paraphernalia after she was found with two syringes during a July 8 incident in the 300 block of West Chestnut Street, Washington police said. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Debit card accessed: Stacy Maggs of 706 N. Main St. told Washington police Wednesday her debit card was stolen and $1,004 was withdrawn from her acccount at three automated teller machines in the area.
Purse stolen: Phyllis Kover of Henderson Avenue told Washington police Wednesday her purse containing $400, credit cards, other cards and weddings rings was stolen from her home.
Charges pending: Washington police said charges are pending against a man accused of purchasing automobile parts at Smith Auto, 175 McCarrell Ave., and having it billed to the account of Alex Paris Construction of Atlasburg. The suspect is charged in a similar incident by Peters Township police, city police said.
Man charged: Mark S. Phillips, 55, of 391 McKee Road, Canton Township, was charged Thursday with possession of drug paraphernalia after a needle allegedly was found in his lap when Washington police were called to 865 1/2 Ewing St. on Nov. 26 for a report of an overdose. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Theft, trespass charges: Gabrielle Vance, 20, of Fairbank, Fayette County, was charged Wednesday by state police with retail theft and criminal trespass after she allegedly stole 98 cosmetic items valued at $615 at Walmart, West Brownsville, and put them in her purse. She allegedly told police she planned on keeping some of the cosmetics and selling the rest for Christmas money. She was told a year ago that she was no longer permitted in Walmart. She was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
