Two Washington Co. men charged in cocaine trafficking ring
Two Washington County men were among 17 people indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal narcotics and firearms laws.
The seven-count indictment, announced Thursday by U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton, names Richard Lassic, 41, of Washington, and George Daube, 59, of Donora.
According to the indictment, Lassic and Daube engaged in a conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute cocaine from June to November. Lassic also is charged with possession with intent to distribute and distribution of a quantity of cocaine.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not less than 5 years up to life in prison, and fines ranging from $250,000 to $8 million.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara K. Doolittle will prosecute the case on behalf of the government. The FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office and Allegheny County police conducted the investigation.
