The driver seriously injured in Friday’s crash on Route 21 near Rogersville was in critical condition Monday at a West Virginia hospital.

Larry K. Visser, 65, of Washington, was driving west on Route 21 near Oak Forest Road when he crossed the center line shortly after 11 a.m. and struck a pickup truck head-on, state police said.

Visser suffered extensive injuries in the crash and was flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., where he is listed in critical condition, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday morning.

The driver of the truck, Joseph C. Eilliot, 40, of Flemington, W.Va., injured his knee and was treated at the scene by medics, police said.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, police said.

Route 21 was closed for more than an hour as police investigated and tow crews removed the damaged vehicle.
