MACUNGIE (AP) – Authorities say a father and son died of smoke inhalation after a quick-moving fire ripped through their eastern Pennsylvania home.

The Lehigh County coroner’s office identified the victims as 55-year-old Douglas Jackson Jr. and 21-year-old Douglas Jackson III.

Officials said the fire was reported shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday in their home in Lower Macungie Township south of Allentown.

Fire crews reported the home engulfed in flames by the time they arrived. A woman and her daughter were able to escape.

The cause of the blaze is pending further investigation, and the coroner’s office said a ruling on the manner of death is pending completion of the probe.
