Lions name students of month
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Central High School seniors Brooke Horton and Jacob Tretinik were selected by the high school faculty as Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for December.
Horton, the daughter of Tina and Paul Kreuzer and John Horton, is involved in school musicals and has performed in the jazz choir.
She has received awards for academic excellence three years in a row, and earned the Gold Seal Award her junior year for performing more than 100 hours of community service. She volunteers at area nursing homes and with the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Horton holds a 4.0 GPA and plans to study biology before attending medical school to become a doctor or endocrinologist.
Tretinik, the son of Paul and Shauna Tretinik, is a two-time All-Conference football player, member of the track and field team, performs in the Drama Club and is a member of the National Honor Society. He has participated in Relay for Life, Jazz Choir, Principal’s Council, Student Council, Academic League, Varsity Club, Construction Club, TV Workshop Club, Ski Club and Young Voters Club and has served as Yearbook editor.
He also is a member of the Pitt Gas Missionary Church’s youth group, Hunting Hills Hawkeyes, Sporting Clay Club, WCHS Quarterback Club, has volunteered for the Salvation Army and worked as a lifeguard at the Waynesburg pool.
Tretinik holds a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend college to pursue a degree in the medical field.
