STAR CITY, W.Va. (AP) – A plan to trap stray cats in Star City is finding some opposition.

The Dominion Post reports that resident Debbie Pegg says the plan is unfair to cat owners who let their felines out for a bit of fresh air. She said she doesn’t see the problem with free-range cats.

Another resident, John McClead, said roaming cats help keep down populations of mice, rats, snakes, raccoons and opossums.

The cat-traps are set by ABC Humane Animal Removal.

It’s not clear what happens once a cat is trapped.
