Two men were taken to a Pittsburgh hospital Saturday after the vehicle they were traveling in left the roadway and crashed into several trees in Amwell Township.

Douglas E. McFann, 21, of Vestaburg, was traveling south on state Route 19, just south of Vankirk Ridge Road, when he lost control of his car about 10:45 p.m., state police said. The vehicle swerved before leaving the roadway and struck a guardrail and a several trees before coming to a stop at the bottom of a hill.

Police believe alcohol was a contributing factor and indicated in their report that McFann showed signs of intoxication. He was taken to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital with unknown injuries. A passenger, Jason S. Devecka, 20, of Marianna, also was flown with severe injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
