20-year-old jailed in teen rape case
A Houston man was arrested Friday by Houston police after he allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl while she was unconscious on a bed in his home the previous night.
Felix Jesus Cruz Jr., 20, of 139 N. Haft St., is charged with rape of an unconscious person, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault.
The 15-year-old girl told Officer James Saieva, who filed the charges, she was with Cruz and his brother at a Canonsburg fast-food restaurant Thursday night. His mother picked them up and took them to their Houston home.
Cruz and a friend who was at the home were reportedly smoking marijuana when they reportedly blew marijuana into the girl’s mouth. She told police she started to feel groggy. The girl also told police she was suffering from the effects of a concussion she suffered several weeks ago.
The girl said she went to Cruz’s bedroom because she was tired and fell asleep. She told Saieva she thought she would be safe because Cruz’s mother and brother were downstairs.
When the girl awoke, Cruz was allegedly sexually assaulting her. She said she pushed Cruz off of her and pretended it was OK. Then he reportedly fell asleep.
The girl told police she fled from the home and ran down an alley when she heard Cruz yelling her name. She called a friend to pick her up. She said she told her mother what happened and she called police.
Cruz reportedly left the girl’s mother a voicemail about 1 a.m. Friday, crying and telling her that he did not mean to do it. A short time later, he reportedly left the girl a message telling her he would kill himself if police got involved and he did it because he was high.
He was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and placed in Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday in Central Court.
