A mother and her eight-month-old son escaped injury when a water truck crashed into their Somerset Township home about 2:50 p.m. Friday.

The driver of the water hauler, owned by Al’s Water Service, was outside of the truck completing a delivery at a hilltop house across the street from Mike and Stacey Massucci’s home at 179 Hoge Summit Road when the truck rolled over an embankment, across the street and down a hillside before crashing into the Massuccis’ Jeep Wrangler and through their garage.

Stacey Massucci and her son, Jaxon, were sitting in the living room directly above where the truck came to rest.

Her husband, Mike Massucci, was not at home at the time.

Massucci said his wife heard a loud crash and felt the house shake from the impact, which knocked pictures off the walls.

Crews working to shore up the garage said the truck was supporting a beam that supports the home and that beam would have to be repaired before the water truck could be removed.

“It could have been worse,” said Massucci, who said he had paid off his Jeep in December. “No one got hurt, and that’s what matters.”
