HEILWOOD, Pa. (AP) — A county coroner says a worker was killed at a mine in west-central Pennsylvania after a large rock fell from the mine roof and crushed him.

Indiana County Coroner Jerry L. Overman Jr. says in a news release that the man — 29-year-old Todd Trimble of Gallitzin — was installing roof bolts at Rosebud Heilwood mine on Friday afternoon when the rock fell and he was trapped underneath.

The coroner says co-workers freed Trimble and took him to the surface, where paramedics had arrived.

The coroner pronounced the man dead at the scene.
