ALIQUIPPA (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the shooting death of the mother of his two young children almost two years ago.

The Beaver County Times reported that 29-year-old Jasmen Walker of Aliquippa entered the plea Friday as jury selection for his trial was about to begin.

Walker also pleaded guilty to burglary and a firearms crime in the April 2013 death of 25-year-old Anesha Martin.

Authorities said he broke into the victim’s Aliquippa home and shot her twice in the head, once at close range. Police said her three children were staying with a relative at the time.

A plea agreement with prosecutors recommends a sentence of 22 to 44 years in state prison.
