SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) — An autopsy has been scheduled for a volunteer firefighter who suffered an apparent heart attack while fighting a garage fire in November and eventually died at a Pittsburgh hospital.
Tuesday’s autopsy may determine whether the property owner will face additional charges in the fire.
That woman, Kerri O’Baker, already faces arson and related charges stemming from the Nov. 5 fire on her property. She’s told police she and her juvenile son were burning trash and that a miscommunication led to the fire being left unattended before it also burned a garage and fence.
Forty-eight-year-old Somerset volunteer firefighter Edward Roddy collapsed while fighting the blaze.
Somerset police and the coroner were notified of his death Monday.
A defense attorney for O’Baker could not be located through online court records.
