County sheriffs discuss issues
County sheriffs from District 5, which covers Southwestern Pennsylvania, recently held a meeting in Greensburg to elect new officers, discuss a variety of issues and determine how they can better coordinate and work with each other in the future.
District 5 is composed of Allegheny, Armstrong, Cambria, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
Sheriffs who attended the meeting were William Mullen, Allegheny; Bill Rupert, Armstrong; Gary Brownfield, Fayette; Brian Tennant, Greene; Robert Fyock, Indiana; Robert Kolar, Cambria; and Jon Held, Westmoreland.
Officers elected were Tennant, chairman; Held, vice chairman; and Rupert, secretary of the board.
These district meetings provide a forum to discuss issues, problems and legislation that affect the office of sheriff.
Representatives from District 5 plan to meet with their legislators to educate them on the vital role of Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Association and garner their support in moving the office of sheriff forward.
