Tractor-trailer crash: State police said Abdullahi Yussuf, no address, was taken to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with unspecified injuries after he crashed his tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 near the Taylorstown exit shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday.

Assault charge: Edward J. Paul III, 36, of 19 Penny Lane, Independence, was charged with simple assault and harassment after state police said he pushed his wife into a wall and choked her about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at 60 Bel Air Drive in Canton. District Judge Larry Hopkins arraigned him and set his bond at $25,000.

Man accused of kicking girlfriend: Michael J. Anderson, 29, of 111 Route 837, Carroll, was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats and unlawful restraint after township police said he pushed his girlfriend to the floor and kicked her in his home shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday. Anderson was taken to Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.

Man accused of spitting on trooper: State police filed a litany of charges against a Centerville man after his car caught fire when he fell asleep behind the wheel while smoking a cigarette Thursday night. Police said they found Jeremy A. Price, 21, of 909 Old National Pike, in his car near 747 Crawford Road in East Bethlehem Township shortly after 7 p.m. and arrested him for driving under the influence of drugs. Price was taken for a blood test to Washington Hospital, where he allegedly pushed a security guard and spit on a state trooper. In addition to DUI, Price was charged with assault by a prisoner, harassment by a prisoner, possession of a controlled substance, marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and harassment. District Judge Larry Hopkins arraigned Price, and he was taken to Washington County jail on $40,000 bond.

Drug charges: Three people were charged with drug possession following a traffic stop on Coal Street in McDonald, borough police said. Anthony W. Stewart, 30, of 210 S. McDonald St., McDonald, Corey C. Heinze, 27, of 520 Little Mingo Road, Finleyville, and Jay R. Stevens, 37, of 313 Coal St., McDonald, were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after borough police said they found them with a stamp bag of heroin, several empty stamp bags, a hypodermic needle and a pipe in their car. Stewart was taken to Washington County jail on an active warrant.

Domestic dispute: James P. Leech, 34, of 783 E. Main St., Monongahela, was charged with simple assault and harassment after city police said he punched his girlfriend in the face inside his home about 6:45 a.m. Thursday. District Judge Larry Hopkins arraigned Leech, and he was taken to Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.

Two charged with assault: A husband and wife were arrested Wednesday night following a fight inside their Robinson home, McDonald police said. Police said they were called to 204 Howard St. shortly after 9 p.m. following a fight between Dawn R. Sweetie, 43, and Michael Sweetie, 46. Both were charged with simple assault and harassment, and taken to Washington County jail on $25,000 bonds.

Two arrested in fight: State police said they were called to 4055 Equity Drive in South Franklin following a fight between a husband and wife about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. Police said they charged Lawrence J. Cook Jr., 40, with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly struck his wife in the face during the fight. He was arraigned by District Judge Larry Hopkins and taken to Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.

Criminal mischief: State police said they charged Clarence E. Shrader, 64, of Prosperity, with criminal mischief after he allegedly backed over a mailbox at 2175 S Bridge Road in South Franklin about noon Thursday and then struck a yard marker as he tried to leave.

Wire stolen: Copper wiring was stolen from the now-closed Mitchell Power Station in Union Township Dec. 31 after someone cut through a chain-link fence to get to a substation on the property, Southwest Regional police said.
