An Armstrong County man pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery Monday and was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in a state prison.
Clark Monroe Headrick Jr., 25, of Apollo, was sentenced to prison after appearing before Washington County Judge Valarie Costanzo. Headrick is accused of grabbing a woman’s purse and stealing an unspecified amount of cash from Mega Express at 326 Ridge Ave., Washington, in 2013.
Headrick robbed the convenience store Jan. 26, 2013. According to the criminal complaint, Headrick entered the store and asked the cashier for change. The clerk couldn’t make change unless Headrick bought something. When Headrick handed the clerk a lollipop to purchase, he waited until the cash drawer popped open, brandished a knife and took an unspecified amount of money before fleeing.
Four days later, Headrick snatched the purse of a woman entering the Union Grill, 13 E. Wheeling Street. The woman helped police identify Headrick, and he was arrested Feb. 4, 2013. Police were then able to match surveillance video from the convenience store robbery with Headrick, and he was identified by the cashier in a photo lineup.
As a part of a plea agreement, additional charges against Headrick were not prosecuted by the district attorney’s office.
Headrick was returned to Washington County jail, where he will remain until he is transported to prison.
