In Brooke, string of murder cases odd

WELLSBURG, W.Va. – Brooke County’s prosecutor said a recent string of murder cases is unprecedented in the county.

Prosecutor Joseph Barki said there were two murder cases in the county in the past 13 years. Now, his office is handling five at the same time.

Barki told The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register none of the cases appears to be drug-related.

He said his office also is handling other serious cases and the murder cases are creating a strain.
