PITTSBURGH (AP) – Light snow that began falling before daybreak has slowed morning rush hour traffic in parts of Western Pennsylvania and caused minor accidents on some roads.
A chain-reaction crash involving several vehicles was jamming Route 65 leading from the city near the McKees Rocks Bridge. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Other major arteries, including Interstates 79, 279 and 376, as well as Route 28, saw traffic moving slower than normal as motorists took extra car on the damp roads. Many side streets and hillier streets remained slick as crews rushed to treat them.
In northwestern Pennsylvania, the National Weather Service was predicting three to five inches of lake-effect snow in Erie and Crawford counties.
Light snow was expected as the system moved across Pennsylvania Monday, and heavier snow is forecast for Tuesday..
