State Rep. Snyder named to four House committees
State Rep.Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson, announced Tuesday she was named to four standing House committees which directly impact Southwestern Pennsylvania.
“The appointments provide a strategic opportunity to implement policies advantageous to Greene, Fayette and Washington counties,” said Snyder, who was named to the Environmental Resources and Energy, Consumer Affairs, Aging and Adult Services, and Labor and Industry committees. “From these vantage points, I look forward to working in a bipartisan fashion for the betterment of the commonwealth.”
Snyder said House leadership also recommended her for an appointment to the Mining and Reclamation Advisory Board, which addresses coal mining issues and counsels the state Department of Environmental Protection.
“A seat on the advisory board and the posts on Energy and Environmental Resources and Consumer Affairs, which oversees the state Public Utility Commission, puts me at the forefront on issues affecting jobs and energy prices,” Snyder said. “I’m eager to move forward on policies that move Pennsylvania forward.”
Snyder said she is excited to be named to the House Local Government Committee.
“As a former county commissioner, I know that government at the local level is closest to the people,” Snyder said. “I feel I am well prepared to assist local governments fulfill their responsibilities to communities in matters ranging from revitalization to land use planning and development.”
Snyder also returns to the Aging and Adult Services panel, which enables her to advocate for seniors.
“It is an appointment near and dear to my heart,” Snyder said. “The panel focuses on many important issues and services crucial to Pennsylvania seniors.”
Snyder said the committee process is the foundation of all legislative work, but is best employed with input from constituents.
“I remind residents that my Redstone Township office near Brownsville is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and is geared to handle any state-related matter,” Snyder said.
