Two charged: Cody Kolbeck, 29, and Kayleigh Hewitt, 22, both of Charleroi, were arrested Wednesday by Roscoe-Elco-Stockdale-Allenport regional police after they received a report of them panhandling money from customers at an Allenport business. Police said both were found with drug paraphernalia, and Hewitt gave police a false first name. She was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins on charges of false identification to police and possession of paraphernalia. He set bond at $25,000. Kolbeck was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on a paraphernalia charge. His bond is $1,000. They also were wanted on bench warrants. The pair are in Washington County jail.
Drug arrest: Peter C. MacNamara, 20, of Mars, Butler County, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant obtained by the Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force. MacNamara is accused of selling marijuana to a confidential informant Oct. 7 at a home on Union Street. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver marijuana. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
DUI charge: Michael T. Bellhy, 27, of 2643 Beverly Drive, Canton, was charged Wednesday by state police with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay in his lane and careless driving stemming from a Sept. 14 head-on crash on Hewitt Avenue. Police said his blood-alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 percent level at which intoxication is presumed. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Heroin arrest: Michael D. Caldwell, 27, of 302 Old West Road, Bentleyville, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant obtained by Donora police on charges of possession of heroin and paraphernalia stemming from an April 14 incident in a parking lot on Meldon Avenue. Police said he had 83 stamp bags of heroin. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $20,000 bond.
Pavilion damaged: McDonald police said two wooden tiles were burned in a pavilion at Midway Community Park. The damage was discovered Monday.
Marijuana charge: Peters Township police will charge Michael Soff, 19, of 105 Janice Drive, McMurray, with underage drinking, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle while parked Jan. 21 on West McMurray Road near Canonsburg Lake.
Warrant arrest: Laverne J. Davis III, 38, of Washington, was arrested Wednesday on a fugitive warrant stemming from charges of theft by deception, retail theft and conspiracy. He is accused of returning video games stolen from Walmart April 23, 2012, in exchange for gift cards. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Vehicle entered: Jacquelynn Guthrie of Ewing Street told Washington police Wednesday her vehicle was entered but nothing was stolen.
Knives stolen: The wife of Travis Lewis, 147 Jollick Manor, told Washington police Wednesday her husband’s buck knife and gutting knife were stolen from their vehicle.
Fleeing police: Terrence Michael Boyd, 26, of 2406 Webster Ave., West Mifflin, was arrested by city police for giving a false name during a traffic stop in the 300 block of Tyler Avenue on Thursday and then running away from his car, police said. He faces charges of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, flight to avoid apprehension, driving with a suspended or revoked license, reckless driving, furnishing authorities with information without knowledge and failure to obey traffic signs. Police said he was wanted on warrants out of Allegheny County. He was arraigned by District Judge Robert Redlinger and taken to Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Inmate charged: Edward James Paul III, 36, of 19 Penny Lane, Avella, was charged by state police with contempt for violating a protection-from-abuse order, obstructing the administration of law and intimidation of a witness or victim, stemming from a phone call he made Jan. 1 at Washington County jail. Police said he called Melissa Paul, who has a PFA against him, and told her to get the PFA dropped and say “it was the dog” that caused the bruising on her face. He will be video arraigned on charges by District Judge Robert Redlinger.
