HOMESTEAD (AP) – A man unaccounted for as several buildings burned in a downtown district near Pittsburgh has been found safe.

Authorities at the fire on East Eighth Avenue in Homestead didn’t immediately say if the man was found safe in one of the burning buildings or was simply found to be safe elsewhere.

Earlier Friday, four people got out of a building safely and two others were rescued. No injuries have been reported.

At least one of the five buildings that caught fire collapsed after the fire was reported about 4:30 a.m.

Homestead Mayor Betty Esper says the fire is devastating to the borough’s downtown.

The community of 3,100 residents is about six miles from downtown Pittsburgh.
