Little Miss Firecracker set for this weekend
The Little Miss Firecracker pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
The pageant, sponsored by Waynesburg Lions Club and Waynesburg Sewing Center, will take place on the main stage in front of the grandstand.
The pageant is a non-competitive event for girls ages 5 to 8 with the participants appearing in patriotic attire while being interviewed on stage.
Little Miss Firecracker is determined when each contestant draws a wrapped flower from a basket, with the off-colored flower determining the new queen for 2015.
The winner will receive a crown, sash, trophy and bouquet. Each contestant receives a participation medal.
The 2014 Little Miss Firecracker, Emma Mae Lawson, daughter of Charles and Samantha Lawson, will crown the new queen. The contestants for 2015 will rehearse Friday at 6 p.m. on the stage.
They include Gloria Ann Evans, daughter of Sally Lemley and John Evans of Waynesburg; Erin Elizabeth Harbarger, daughter of Lane and Sioux Harbarger of Carmichaels; Chloe Marie Lawson, daughter of Charles and Samantha Lawson of Waynesburg; Madison Loughner, daughter of Bryan and Cathy Loughner of Spraggs; and Kendra Elizabeth Tharp and Marissa Sue Tharp, both daughters of Natasha and Cory Tharp of Wind Ridge.
