A driver crashed into a tractor mowing grass on the side of Route 21 before catapulting into another vehicle in a fiery crash earlier this week.

State police said Joseph L. Goddard, 32, of Moundsville, W.Va., was speeding Monday afternoon while driving west on Route 21 in Richhill Township when he entered a right curve in the road and crashed into the tractor near Poland Run Road.

Goddard’s truck clipped the tractor driven by Kevin Simpson, 27, of Indiana, Pa., spun around and then careened into an eastbound sport utility vehicle.

That SUV, driven by Christy Baker, 48, of Cameron, W.Va., caught fire, although the four people inside, including 8- and 6-year-old girls, were able to get out. Baker was taken by ambulance to Washington Health System-Greene for treatment of minor injuries in the crash.

No one else was injured.

Police cited Goddard for speeding.
