Multiple injuries in Somerset accident
Three people were transported by ambulance to area hospitals Monday evening to be treated for various injuries they suffered in a two-vehicle crash in Somerset Township.
State police said a male driver ran a stop sign on Pigeon Creek Road about 7:30 p.m., and his vehicle was struck by a van heading south on Route 917. Four other males were inside the vehicle, and emergency responders on scene said they appeared to be juveniles. Police have not yet released names.
Three males in the vehicle on Pigeon Creek Road were taken to Washington and Allegheny General hospitals. One was in critical condition, according to Tom Pysh, first assistant chief of Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Department. A state police officer said none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
Another male suffered moderate injuries, and a third complained of hip pain. The other two passengers, and the female driver of the van, were being checked at the scene by EMS.
A medical helicopter was unable to fly to the scene because of a storm.
