Five hurt, one seriously, in Somerset Township crash

Five juveniles were injured, one seriously, in a crash Monday night on Route 917 at the intersection of Pigeon Creek Road in Somerset Township, state police said. The juveniles were not identified, however the driver is from Finleyville. Three passengers, including one who received major injuries, are from McMurray and the fourth is from Ellsworth. The juvenile who was seriously injured was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police said the juveniles were driving on Pigeon Creek Road and their car failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Route 917. Their car was hit by a southbound van driven by Teresa Marie Gillis, no age or address given. She was not injured.

Police said toxicology tests on both drivers are pending.

Assisting at the scene were Fallowfield and Ellsworth firefighters.
