MONACA, Pa. (AP) — A body pulled found near a dam on the Ohio River in western Pennsylvania has been identified as that of a swimmer reported missing last week.

Beaver County Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi says 22-year-old Jason Moore accidentally drowned in the river July 1.

That’s when he was last seen, about 8 p.m., struggling to stay afloat in the rain-swollen river.

Crews were first called to the river by reports that two young people were struggling to stay afloat, but the other was able to get out of the water safely.

Moore’s body was found about 5 p.m. Wednesday near the Montgomery Locks and Dam. The coroner confirmed the identity Thursday.
