Aleppo Brethren Church will hold a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. The menu will include kielbasa, sauerkraut, potatoes, peas and cookies. For information or deliveries call 724-428-9812.
Rain Day themed Paint-N-Sip classes will be offered to the community at Ruff Creek Crafts and Antiques located at 141 East High Street in Waynesburg. An adult Paint-N-Sip will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. July 22, and a children’s Paint-N-Dip will be held from 11 to 1 p.m. July 25. Cost for adults is $40 and cost for children is $18. The finished pieces will be displayed in the windows of the shop. Seating is limited, to reserve a seat call 724-413-4519.
Waynesburg Borough is hosting an informational meeting open to the public at the Borough Building at 7 p.m. July 27. The meeting will discuss the updates to their comprhensive plan. This meeting will provide an opportunity to identify assets, opportunities and challenged in relation to land use patterns; community facilities; preservation resources; transportation issues and concerns; and economic and business development. The annual Aleppo High School reunion, which was scheduled to be held on Aug. 9, has been canceled.
Nighttime, single-lane restrictions will take place in Washington, East Washington and South Strabane Township beginning this week. The restrictions will be from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday with a tentative completion date of Aug. 28. Work will begin on Route 18, South Main Street and Park Avenue, proceeding to Main Street and Chestnut Street, then to North Main Street and North Avenue. The order of roads is tentative, the state Department of Transportation indicated Crews will be milling, doing base repairs and paving. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers during the operation.
