A Nottingham Township man who is a youth soccer coach in the Mon Valley was arrested Wednesday by agents with the state attorney general’s office on multiple charges he possessed more than 1,400 video images containing child pornography.

Michael Glenn Williams, 47, of 118 Valley Road, Eighty Four, also is charged with criminal use of a cellphone in an investigation that culminated in a search of his home Wednesday and seizure of a computer and an external digital storage device, court records state.

A Ringgold School District official confirmed Williams was a coach for Ringgold Area Youth Soccer Association, which is not affiliated with the district, and an online association coaching list from 2012 showed Mike Williams listed as a coach. RAYSA President Steve Bucchianeri did not return a call seeking comment.

Some of the images Williams allegedly collected in a peer-to-peer file sharing network Jan. 26 and June 15 depicted children ages 5 and 6 years old, the affidavit states.

Williams was connected to the investigation after an Internet protocol address used to share the files matched his Verizon account, police claimed.

Williams allegedly confessed to having the child pornography, saying he had the problem for many years, court documents indicate. He also told investigators he never had sex with children, the record indicates.

He was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.
