BUTLER, Pa. (AP) — A 25-year-old western Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges that he fractured his 7-week-old son’s skull by smashing the baby’s head off a wall.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 25-year-old Tyler Duddy, of Butler Township.

He faces a preliminary hearing July 23 on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment.

Duddy was charged Tuesday after a several-week investigation of an incident at his apartment last month.

The baby, Callen, is recovering and has been placed in foster care because the child’s mother is hospitalized for an unspecified reason.

Police say Duddy told them he smashed the baby’s skull into the wall because he was frustrated and mad. Authorities say it’s likely the boy will end up with long-term health issues.
