Electronic recycling events planned

The Washington County Planning Commission will hold its annual electronics recycling collection event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 25 at the Washington County Fairgrounds, 2151 N. Main St., Washington.

The electronic waste will be collected by JVS Environmental or Rockwood, and properly recycled according to state and federal regulations.

Items to be collected include computer monitors, computer towers and bases, mice, keyboards and speakers; notebook computers; printers, copiers and fax machines; telephone equipment; televisions; non-freon containing household appliances; automobile batteries; answering machines; radios and typewriters. Most items are collected free of charge.

Televisions will be limited to one per car. Freon appliances will be accepted with a freon removal fee of $15. Any participant with more than 20 items must call in advance to make arrangements.
