Redevelopment Authority schedules Local Share info sessions

Washington County Redevelopment Authority has scheduled three workshops around the county to discuss the Local Share Account process with elected officials and nongovernmental applicants who are interested in learning more about the process.
Here is the schedule:
• 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, Western Area Career and Technology Center, 688 Western Ave., Canonsburg.
• 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, Donora Borough council chambers, 603 Meldon Ave.
• 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, public meeting room of the Courthouse Square office building, Washington
The deadline for submitting applications for the 2016 round of LSA funding will be Thursday, Oct. 1. William McGowen, executive director of the redevelopment authority, said the deadline was moved up by two weeks from that of previous years so LSA board members would have more time to read the applications before the November and December holidays.
The Local Share Account has funded public projects from gambling proceeds at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino since 2008, the year after slot-machine gambling was instituted there.
