DUI, traffic charges: Roger Lee Kelley, II, 27, of 960 Wayne St., Canton Township, was charged Wednesday by state police with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension and limitations on backing after they saw him backing down South Central Avenue near Fountain Street, Canonsburg, July 11. The charges will be sent by summons from the offie of District Judge David Mark.

Assault arrest: Kevin Olinger, 56, of 14 E. Pitt St., Canonsburg, was arrested Thursday night by Canonsburg police on charges of simple assault and harassment. He is accused of slamming Katherine White to the floor, knocking her into a coffee table and causing a laceration on her arm. He also allegedly broke her computer and tore her house arrest monitor out of the wall, police said. He was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.

Charged in stop: Jennifer E. Chisler, 29, of 720 Old National Pike, Claysville, was charged Wednsday by state police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, not having insurance and an equipment violations stemming from a July 3 traffic stop at the intersection of Henderson and South Hewitt avenues, Canton. State police said she had empty stamp bags of suspected heroin. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.

Assault charge: Roger D. Russell, 24, of 108 Donahue St., Avella, was charged Tuesday by state police with simple assault and harassment stemming from a July 20, 2013, assault of James McDonald at 305 Hilltop Lane, Canton. He is accused of punching McDonald in the eight eye, fracturing his orbital bone. McDonald called police earlier this month and told the trooper he wanted to pursue charges against Russell. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.

Drug charges: Christopher J. Watt, 32, of 375 N. Wade Ave., East Washington, was charged Thursday by East Washington police with possession of heroin. Police were called to his home June 23 after he apparently overdosed on the drug. Police found four stamp bags of suspected heroin and syringes. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Assault arrest: An Ellsworth man is in Washington County jail on charges of pushing a woman in the face and throwing silverware at a bathroom door while she and her son were barricaded behind it Thursday night. The woman told state police Joshua Sindermann, 36, of 47 Chestnut St., returned home drunk shortly before 10 p.m., and the two got into an argument. Sindermann then pushed the woman in the face and and her son retreated to a bathroom, where Sindermann pushed her again as she tried to close the door. The woman told police Sindermann threw butter knives and other silverware at the bathroom door while she called 911. Sindermann was arraigned Friday before District Judge Curtis Thompson on simple assault and harassment charges and and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.

DUI charge: Linda C. Mamie, 42, of 107 Butternut Court, Eighty Four, was charged this week by state police with DUI, careless driving and failure to stay in her lane after a trooper spotted her driving her vehicle off the side of Galley Road near Waterdam Road, North Strabane, June 24. The 911 center was getting reports of a reckless driver in the area before she was spotted by police. She had Alprazolam and oxycodone in her system, police said. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Crash investigaton: Township police determined Miranda Levers, 23, of 830 Ewing St., Washington, was not the driver involved in a head-on crash Monday on Galley Road near Route 19. Levers told police she loaned her car to a friend, who was involved in the crash and gave police Levers’ name and information. Police are continuing their investigation.

Motorcyclist injured: Thomas Wian, 47, of Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland County, was injured about noon Thursday when he crashed his motorcycle on Racetrack Road near Quail Lane, North Strabane police said. He was following a westbound vehicle that braked, forcing Wian to hit his brakes and causing him to fall off the motorcycle. He was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.

Theft arrest: Donald J. Makowski, 31, of 700 N. Main St., Washington, was charged Monday by South Strabane police with retail theft and theft by deception. He is accused of taking an item valued at $137 from a shelf at Walmart, Trinity Point, April 7, and returning it to the customer service center in exchange for a gift card. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Two face charges: Two people face charges following a traffic stop Thursday afternoon in the Interstate 70 west construction zone, South Strabane. State police said Amber Rae Martos, 24, of Washington, was driving at a high rate of speed when stopped. She was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and taken to Washington Hospital for a blood test. Her passenger, Brett Goodwin, 28, of Scenery Hill, reportedly gave police a false name. He was wanted on a warrant, police said.
