WAYNESBURG – A number of criminal defendants pleaded guilty last week before Greene County President Judge Farley Toothman and were sentenced.

Michael Edward Phillips, 26, of 1530 Morris St., Waynesburg; offenses – conspiracy, two counts of theft; between March 20 and 23, Phillips and another man stole a trailer from a Greene Township well site containing a pipe fusing machine and tools; sentence – 1 to 5 years in prison; deemed eligible for the Recidivism Risk Reduction Incentive program, his minimum prison sentence will be 9 months.

Luke Jerome Able II, 36, of 5595 Ellis Road, Stockport, Ohio; driving under the influence of alcohol, three summary traffic violations; arrested July 17, 2014, Able had a blood-alcohol content of 0.156 percent; sentence – 48 hours to 6 months in jail, $575 in fines.

Brett William Kronk, 50, of Route 88 Mobile Home Park, Carmichaels; offenses – criminal attempt to commit theft; a charge of insurance fraud was withdrawn by the attorney general’s office, which prosecuted the case; on April 24, 2014, Kronk filed an insurance claim for a vehicle crash that included damage from a previous incident in which a claim had been made; sentence – $500 fine, 50 hours of community service.

Benjamin Arnold Kiger, 40, of 206 S. Washington St., Waynesburg; offense – resisting arrest; on March 27, Kiger resisted police when they went to arrest him for violation of a protection-from-abuse order; sentence – time served from July 4 to 23 ½ months in jail, $300 fine, 100 hours of community service.

James Paul Yakubec Jr., 40, of 201 Happy Valley Road, Waynesburg; offenses – DUI and seven summary traffic violations; he was arrested Dec. 14, 2013 after his vehicle hit a traffic signal pole on Route 188 in Jefferson; he failed to stop at the scene; his BAC was 0.197 percent; sentence – 72 hours to 6 months in jail, $1,625 in fines, 25 hours of community service.

Robert L. Leonard Jr., 47, of 1025 N. Woodland Ave., Waynesburg; offenses – stalking, harassment; between July 1 and Oct. 12, 2014, Leonard made repeated calls to a woman after she had asked him not to contact her; sentence – 2 years of probation, $500 in fines, 100 hours of community service.

Nathan Ryan Phillips, 21, of 109 Blacks Creek Road, Wind Ridge; offenses – burglary, conspiracy, theft; on Jan. 11, Phillips drove an employee of the Burger King Restaurant in Franklin Township to the restaurant; the employee then entered the restaurant and stole $3,666; sentence – 5 years of probation, 225 hours of community service; $3,666 in restitution.
