Washington County commissioners meeting
• Date: July 16
• Action: The commissioners are advancing the Butsko Road bridge replacement project over Pigeon Creek by seeking construction bids. The Fallowfield Township bridge has been closed for two years. Costs will be paid with Local Share funds from gambling revenues at the Meadows Casino.
The Washington County Planning Commission won approval for an additional $10,000 for its agreement with Fourth Economy consultants, Pittsburgh, to obtain services by Flinn Development and Consulting to coordinate with state agencies on parts of an economic development strategy. The revised amount of $54,500 also will be paid with money from the Local Share Account.
• At the request of Children and Youth Services, the board approved $80,000 for the Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Services agency from July 1 through June 30, 2016, and for the same time period, legal services from attorneys Frank C. Kocevar, MariAnn Hathaway and Erin Dickerson at the monthly rate of $2,916 a month.
• Travel: The board approved Assistant Director of IT Administration Debra Rutan’s three visits to Rutgers University’s School of Public Affairs and Administration, Newark, N.J., this month, in December and in June 2016 so she can be certified as a government chief information officer. She will take other classes from within the county’s information technology department. The cost of the class is $3,800, with out-of-state travel not to exceed $2,500.
• Appointment: Earl Sadler, Washington County Farmland Preservation Board; reappointed to the Tourism Promotion Board were Chase McClain, Jim Lyle, Marcia Minor-Opp and Tim Thomassy.
• Next meeting: 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, in the pubic meeting room of the Courthouse Square office building.
