An Avella woman was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated assault by motor vehicle stemming from a two-vehicle crash in April in Cross Creek Township.

Carlie Danielle Cousins, 19, of 104 Highland Ave., will receive the charges in a summons from District Judge Gary Havelka, court records show.

State police accused her of having a blood-alcohol content of 0.134 in a state where intoxication is assumed at 0.08 two hours after her car collided with a motorcycle about 7 p.m. April 12 on Route 50 near County Park Road, the criminal complaint indicates.

The operator of the motorcycle, Thomas P. Graziani of Pittsburgh, suffered leg injuries that required him to be flown by helicopter to a hospital, police said.

Cousins told police at the scene she did not know how the accident happened and that she had been drinking alcohol earlier in the day, the record stated. Police said an empty rum party drink bottle was found in her car.

She also was cited for careless driving, not having the required vehicle registration and being a minor prohibited from driving under the influence of alcohol, the record shows.
