As the 2015 Rain Day celebration gets closer, Morgan Voithofer of Carmichaels, who has spent the past year as Miss Rain Day, realizes her reign is almost over.
It is a bittersweet feeling for her because, in only one year, she did so much.
Voithofer thinks back to her two service projects of giving Christmas gifts to people at Golden LivingCenter and collecting donations for Greene County Humane Society as her greatest accomplishments.
“It was an amazing experience,” Voithofer said.
Even though she had a whole year as Miss Rain Day, her favorite day was the very first one.
“My favorite day was Rain Day,” Voithofer said. “I was getting interviewed by lots of papers, I got to judge contests and I got to perform. It was a really good day.”
But next week, she will hand the crown to another girl.
Voithofer said making memories with the community is what she’ll miss the most.
“I’m going to miss meeting all kinds of people and the little girls thinking that I was a princess,” Voithofer said. “That happened a lot.”
As she leaves, she offers some advice to the group of girls competing to be the future Miss Rain Day.
“Don’t blink; your year is going to fly by,” Voithofer said. “And something I say all the time, don’t let anyone rain on your parade.”
Voithofer will be a junior at Carmichaels Area High School.
