PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh police plan to charge a motorist who angrily confronted a couple riding bicycles and pushed the woman to the ground.

Police have yet to release the name of the Wilkinsburg man who will be charged in the confrontation on Butler Street, a busy, but narrow thoroughfare in the city’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.

Police say the driver apparently became upset when the bicycles were in front of him about 3:45 p.m. Thursday, but police say the riders had simply moved into traffic to avoid parked cars.

Police say the driver eventually got out of his car, shouted obscenities and pushed the woman to the ground.

The male rider, Chris Sprowls, tells WTAE-TV that cyclists and drivers need to respect one another, saying, “it’s mostly about how people treat each other.”
