Two Westmoreland County men were arrested Friday by state police after they allegedly stole equipment from outside a Fallowfield Township home.

Frank Anthony Christofano, 53, and Frank Michels Christofano, 27, both of 1040 Christofano Lane, Jeannette, are accused of stealing a fork, two buckets, and a set of loading arms for a John Deere tractor from near a farm house on Route 481 near Interstate 70. Also stolen was a roll of “prison fencing” and four iron rods.

The property owner told police that he saw the two men trying to leave with the items.

The Christofanos told police that they had been working at a nearby construction site and thought the items were abandoned and had taken them for their own use.

Both men were arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of receiving stolen property and theft. They were released from Washington County Jail early Saturday after posting $15,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 6 before District Judge Larry Hopkins.
