PITTSBURGH (AP) – Officials in western Pennsylvania say a water line ruptured at Allegheny General Hospital, flooding several elevator shafts and a stairwell.

Firefighters were called to the hospital on Monday afternoon after the three-inch water line in the Pittsburgh hospital’s heating system burst.

The hospital said in a statement that the leak was found and stopped at about 2:40 p.m. Monday. Spokeswoman Jennifer Davis said workers were removing the water from the affected areas.

Davis said the hospital was still accepting emergency patients and “the impact to patients has been limited to transport issues.”
