CORAOPOLIS (AP) – US Airways is closing its Pittsburgh area flight operations control center as part of its merger with American Airlines.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Moon Township facility will handle its last flight Aug. 23.

American is eliminating the US Airways brand and shifting flight operations to a new center in Fort Worth, Texas.

About 650 people work at the US Airways facility. An American spokesman tells the Post-Gazette more than half of them will be moved to Fort Worth.
