Police charge several in S. Strabane thefts

Several people face theft-related charges filed by South Strabane Township police in connection with recent thefts from township businesses.
David M. Strohmeyer, 33, of 75 Beeson Ave., Marianna, will be charged with retail theft and theft for allegedly stealing shingles from Lowe’s, Strabane Square, and then returning them in exchange for a gift card on Monday. Police said Strohmeyer is seen on surveillance video driving up to a canopy and loading his truck. He then drives to another entrance, unloads the shingles and returns them for a $373.08 gift card, police said.
Jennifer Markley, 42, of 610 E. Beau St., East Washington, will be charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing about a dozen items from Kohl’s, Strabane Square, Tuesday.
Melody Beth Kasmarik, 34, of Belle Vernon, was charged Wednesday with retail theft for allegedly stealing items valued at $259.98 from Lowe’s on Feb. 26.
Virginia M. Helmich, 54, of 10 Juniper St., Cecil, was charged Wednesday with theft by deception for allegedly returning items for a gift card at Lowe’s on July 23. Police said the items had been stolen the previous day by another person.
Robert Pimentel, 59, of 190 Pikes Peak, Prosperity, was charged Wednesday with retail theft for allegedly stealing groceries valued at $123.97 from Giant Eagle, Strabane Square, on July 17.
Charges against those accused will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
