Armed trio rob bank in Bethel Park
Three masked men entered the First Niagara Bank branch at 4996 Library Road, Bethel Park, at about 9:30 a.m. Friday and robbed it of an undisclosed amount of cash.
The men were all armed and wearing ski masks and gloves, according to a news release from the FBI. Two of the men jumped over the counter and one remained in the lobby.
The robbers escaped in a tan or gold four-door Chevrolet Cruze with a large amount of duct tape on the rear bumper. The car had stolen Texas license plates that read PCY 970.
The car traveled south on Library Road to a parking lot in the vicinity of the Stop & Shop, where two of the men got out and got into a smaller, white Chevrolet with rust on the hood, according to the FBI. Both vehicles left the area.
Two of the men are white, 5 foot, 10 inches to 6 feet tall and between the ages of 40 and 50. The third man is black, 5 foot, 10 inches to 6 feet tall and age 40 to 50.
It is not known how many people were inside the branch at Hillcrest Shopping Center at the time of the robbery but it had just opened for business.
The branch remained closed Friday. Customers were directed to the First Niagara Bank branch at South Hills Village.
