WAYNESBURG – Greene County commissioners approved a bid to purchase security cameras and software to be installed at Mon View Park and Pool in Greensboro.
All of the equipment, along with installation of 16 cameras, will cost $20,236.
The bid for the equipment submitted by Vicon Industries was unanimously approved during a brief board meeting Thursday morning.
This initiative is was sparked by $500,000 the county invested in the park and pool last year, county Chief Clerk Jeff Marshall said. That money was used to renovate the pool, roller rink and also the playgrounds and parks.
Marshall said the main concern is for the county to ensure the pool and park area stay in good condition following renovations.
“We want to protect our investment,” Marshall said.
Mon View Park and Pool will have similar security equipment as other parks in Greene County, such as Wana B Park in Carmichaels.
Also during the meeting, the commissioners awarded a bus grant for Greene County Day Camp transportation. They received one bid from First Student for $23,685 for the five buses per day, six-week-long camp that also includes two field trips.
The camps will be held from June 15 through July 24.
The commissioners also approved increasing the county’s contribution to the Lions Club up $2,000 for the annual July 4 celebration. The county’s contribution to the event will now be $5,000.
